Ketchikan Gateway Borough Overview
Ketchikan Recent Bookings - Where to Start
Ketchikan does not have a public online booking log or daily bulletin in the same format as some other Alaska communities. KPD stopped listing criminal arrests on its own website and now directs users to the state court system instead. The primary public tool for finding recent Ketchikan bookings is the Criminal Charges Filed report from the Alaska Court System. Scroll to the Ketchikan section. It updates at 9 PM nightly with new filings from the past seven days.
The CourtView public access portal lets you search by name and see all Ketchikan court cases from Superior and District courts. This includes criminal charges, arraignment dates, case status, and hearing schedules. Ketchikan case numbers follow the format 1KE-YY-NNNNN with a suffix like CR for criminal. CourtView is free and requires no account.
For trooper activity outside Ketchikan city limits, the AST Daily Dispatch covers the Southeast Detachment. AST Ketchikan Post handles calls along the North Tongass Highway corridor and surrounding areas not served by KPD.
Ketchikan Police Department
KPD is the primary law enforcement agency for the City of Ketchikan. Arrests within city limits are processed by KPD before transfer to the Ketchikan Correctional Center. The department handles initial booking, report writing, and records retention for city cases. While KPD no longer posts arrest logs on its website, it still processes public records requests for police reports and related documents.
The image below shows the KPD website, which includes service information, online report filing, and department contacts.
Visit the Ketchikan Police Department website for service information, online report options, and contact details.
For non-emergency matters, call KPD at (907) 225-6631. For online police report filing, go to ketchikan.gov/FileAPoliceReport.

To request police records from KPD, contact the department directly by phone or in person. Records requests for arrest reports, incident logs, and similar documents are processed under AS 40.25.100, the Alaska Public Records Act. Active case records may be withheld until the case is resolved. For the most recent bookings that have reached the charging stage, the court system's Criminal Charges Filed tool is faster than a formal records request.
Ketchikan Correctional Center
The Ketchikan Correctional Center is the borough's main detention facility, operated by the Alaska Department of Corrections. It is located at 1201 Schoenbar Road, Ketchikan, AK 99901-6270. The facility holds pretrial detainees and sentenced inmates for the Ketchikan area.

To check if someone is currently in custody, use the VINE inmate search system. VINE is free and available online or by phone at 1-800-247-9763. Search by name or offender ID. You can also register for automatic custody status alerts, which notify you by phone or email when a person's status changes. For same-day bookings that may not have loaded into VINE yet, call the facility directly.
Note: KCC's VINE line uses the number 1-800-247-9763 for Ketchikan. The general VINE line at 1-866-277-7477 also works for searching Alaska DOC facilities statewide.
Ketchikan Court Records
The Alaska Court System in Ketchikan is located at 415 Main Street, Room 300, Ketchikan, AK 99901. The clerk can be reached at (907) 225-3195. This location handles both Superior Court and District Court matters. Superior Court covers felonies, civil matters over $100,000, domestic relations, and probate. District Court handles misdemeanors, traffic cases, small claims, and civil cases under $100,000.
Standard copy fees are $2.50 per page for uncertified documents and $5 per document for certified copies. Some case types are removed from public view, including juvenile cases, sealed records, and certain domestic violence protective orders. These cases will not appear in CourtView even if you search by name.
Case records in Ketchikan follow a standard Alaska format. Criminal cases show the suffix CR, infraction cases show IN, and civil cases show CI. Under AS 12.62, criminal justice information in Alaska has specific access rules. Court filings become public once entered into the system, with exceptions for sealed and juvenile matters.
For case searches, CourtView is the best free starting point. It returns up to 500 results per query and is accessible without registration. If you need physical copies of filings, contact the Ketchikan courthouse directly.
AST Ketchikan Post
The Alaska State Troopers Ketchikan Post covers the North Tongass Highway corridor and areas surrounding the city not served by KPD. It is part of the Southeast Detachment. For incidents and arrests handled by AST rather than KPD, the Daily Dispatch and CourtView are the primary public tools.
